Well, it appears perseverance and determination have won over traditional values in the city of angels. Pressure from gay-lesbian activists as well as the long time gay capital of the United States, San Francisco, have won the battle to overturn the state's ban on same sex marriages today. The US Supreme Court ruled the ban unconstitutional today granting same sex marriage couples a huge victory. California is only the second state in the United States to adopt such an acceptance. Massachusetts adopted their position in 2004.
Gas prices are exploding, people are dying from disease, cyclones, earthquakes. Our economy is failing and people are being evicted via foreclosure. New Orleans residents still cannot go home and our children are dying in Iraq. Honest citizens are being caught between trigger-happy police and gun slinging youth.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand many people are worried about two consenting adults sharing love.
I only wish that Same Sex Marriage was the only thing we had to worry about. As long as they are not having sex with me, I could care less!!!
Interesting!!!! I didn't know if the quote from the Bible was placed on the page intentionally or geared towards this Supreme Court ruling. That Bible interpretation pretty much says it all, I believe.
ReplyDeleteThe U.S. Constitution has reference to GOD all over it & within, but now it goes back to reverse it's decision. What's next people???? Reversal of people's right to vote (Blacks and women)? Reversal of right to bear arms? Or how 'bout the pursuit of happiness?
This undoubtedly proves one thing people; In numbers, we have strength. This group has fought for so long (not that I feel the Supreme Court made a good decision), they combined their efforts and pressured the powers that be and forced a change. The world is changing people, reversal of fortune; rights that so many people fought during the civil rights era. They are going away. What more will it take for our voice to be heard?
